This Week — “The Code of Conduct”
Life is full of uncomfortable moments, many of which either begin in an awkward silence or end in a red-faced apology. And every day, it seems, I am asked questions like the following:
Lou: I have lots of family who don’t live in Louisville. What can I do to ensure this remains the case? — Mary
Mary: Your desire to keep Louisville a secret is a very common one, but there’s more than enough room here for all of us. Might I suggest you at least try to be selective: sign them all up to be a Friend of Lou, and those who opt out or fail to respond can be removed from any further family plans.
Lou: I have three Friend of Lou bumper stickers, but no car. What should I do? — Larry
Larry: The 2009 Federal Stimulus Plan now makes it much more affordable to purchase a new automobile. In Louisville, it’s highly probable you’ll see a Hummer H2 parked next to a smart car, so bumper-display options are almost limitless.
Lou: What should I get for the man who has everything? — Pat
Pat: There ought to be a Louisville shirt that has “I’ve Got Everything” on it, because it would be perfectly appropriate. However, at this time you might just want to pick him up a set of Possibility City luggage tags and a roundtrip ticket to somewhere amazing. Like Lynn’s Paradise Café or Actors Theatre.
Anyway, you get the picture. So to help all Friends of Lou, we’ve put together a
handy-dandy Code of Conduct. If you feel having a resource like this would help you address life’s problematic issues, or you simply want help spreading the Good Word about Possibility City, you now have the means to behave properly.
PS Louisville is a place where one should always strive to be polite. Therefore we invite you to Recruit a Friend of Lou Today. Supplies and possibilities are limitless.
