Scram! Get Outa Here!!
Ah, Spring time. The cold, grey, endless winter’s finally behind us, the kids are bug-eyed and stir-crazy, and Heaven knows, everyone deserves a well-earned pick-me-up. So what to do?

Well, Friend of Lou, the answer’s quite literally staring you in the face: Pack your bags, pack your kids, and pack away all your troubles . . . then head to Louisville!

Be a Hometown Tourist
From May 8 until May 31, Louisville’s celebrating Hometown Tourist Month.

The appropriately nicknamed City of Possibility is presenting a huge range of options aimed at enticing Louisvillians to experience local attractions.

Come on, be honest — how much of the amazing stuff here have you actually experienced yourself? Have you been on a Ghost Walk or gone down into a cavern? Blown glass or thrown a pot? Sailed on the Belle? Heck, did you even know we had a railway museum here? From steamboats and plantations to cutting-edge science exhibits and modern art, Louisville has it all.

And the best part? Knowing that wherever you visit, you’re never any more than 20 minutes away from home (25 in rush hour).

The public is invited to the 2010 Hometown Tourist kick-off celebration on Friday, May 7 at the city’s Visitors Center at Fourth and Jefferson. The event will unveil the celebration’s details including special discounts and offers. Can’t wait? CLICK HERE for the skinny.

For The Love of . . .

. . . Louisville.

Louisville has started an online contest with Trazzler — a Web site that helps people answer the question “Where should I take a trip?” Unlike other trip advisor sites, Trazzler looks to promote the real and cool things that make a city unique. And who better to share the cool things about Louisville than people like you. (Insert gentle stroke of your ego.) Since it is a contest, there are prizes. Two nights at 21c Museum Hotel. $200 gift card for Louisville Originals, Actors Tickets and more…

This will take five minutes and you will feel like a better person when you are done.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. SIGN UP for Trazzler and provide a valid email address.
  2. Click on WRITE A TRIP and fill out the required fields.
  3. Select the Louisville Contest in the dropdown at the bottom of the final trip submission page.
  4. On Facebook, become a fan of Louisville for news and chances to promote your trip.
  5. Send this email to FIVE PEOPLE that you know love Louisville. Post it on your blog, twitter, facebook status, etc.
  6. Get back in there and write another trip about Louisville, you know you want to!
